WEDDINGS IN SWITZERLAND
Wedding Photographer in St. Moritz — alpine glamour, real moments
St. Moritz has hosted grand celebrations for over a century: ballrooms above a frozen lake, champagne at 1,800 metres, larch forests that turn gold in October. Photographing weddings here means moving discreetly through five-star hotels and knowing exactly when the Engadin light — famously clear, famously fast — is at its best. That is my job; yours is to enjoy a wedding that looks effortless.

Where St. Moritz weddings shine
- The grand hotels — historic suites, staircases and terraces; I coordinate quietly with banqueting teams and planners, and respect house rules on privacy.
- Lej da Staz — the forest lake just outside town: intimate, wild, beautiful in summer and magical under snow.
- Muottas Muragl — the classic panorama over the Engadin lakes, breathtaking at blue hour.
- Lake Sils & Chastè peninsula — wide, silent landscapes for editorial-style couple portraits.
- Winter St. Moritz — horse-drawn sleighs, torchlight, fur wraps and falling snow: the signature season.
In December the Engadin sun sets behind the peaks early in the afternoon. I plan portrait windows precisely, keep them short and warm, and use the long blue hour that follows — the most elegant light of the alpine winter. Between sessions your guests stay by the fire; nobody stands in the cold for the sake of a photograph.

Winter weddings — planning the light

Summer or winter — an honest comparison
- Summer: hiking-distance lake portraits, alpine roses, dinner on the terrace until ten; light is generous, planning is easy.
- Winter: snow, sleighs and candlelight — the iconic St. Moritz; light is shorter and colder, so the timeline is built around it.
- October: the golden larches of the Engadin — the connoisseur's season, quiet and glowing.

Working with planners & hotels
Luxury weddings come with real requirements: privacy for guests, coordination with planners and security, no flash during ceremonies, immaculate dress codes. I sync timelines, locations and restrictions with your planner in advance, work unobtrusively in formal settings — documentary coverage with an editorial finish — and deliver galleries that meet the standard the setting demands. Multi-day coverage is available: welcome dinner, ceremony, mountain excursion, brunch. Photography and film come from one team with one aesthetic — see also the luxury weddings page.

FAQ — Wedding Photographer St. Moritz
Do you work with our wedding planner?
Yes — planners are my favourite colleagues. I sync timelines, locations and restrictions in advance so your day runs without surprises.
Can guests' privacy be protected?
Absolutely. We agree beforehand what may be photographed and what stays private; galleries can be password-protected and delivery restricted.
Summer or winter?
Both are extraordinary: summer for lakes and hiking-distance portraits, winter for snow and candlelight. October's golden larches are the insider's choice.
How do you handle the altitude and the weather?
With reserves: buffer time for mountain transport, weather windows checked the day before, and backup spots at lower altitude — planned, not improvised.
Do you travel with the wedding party over several days?
Yes — many Engadin celebrations span a weekend; I cover welcome dinner, ceremony and farewell brunch as one visual story.
How far ahead should we reserve?
For peak winter and summer dates, 12 months is realistic. Ask early — I take one wedding per date.
