INTERNATIONAL WEDDINGS AT LAKE GENEVA

Wedding Photographer in Geneva — Between Lake, Old Town and Vineyards

Geneva might be the most international place in Switzerland to say «yes»: couples from all over the world, ceremonies in two or three languages, families flying in from every continent. Photographically, the city offers far more than its famous fountain — quiet Old Town lanes, grand lakeside parks and wine villages just twenty minutes from the centre. As a documentary wedding photographer, I travel regularly from Zurich to Geneva and photograph your day in English or German — unobtrusively, honestly and with an eye for the moments between the official ones.

A documentary approach for an international city

Many Geneva weddings bring together guests who rarely see each other — which makes real, unposed photography all the more valuable. My priorities during your day:

  • Reactions over arrangements — your grandmother's face during the vows says more than any staged group shot.
  • A compact couple session at the most photogenic time of day, so you spend your wedding with your guests, not with your photographer.
  • Multilingual days are my normal — ceremonies that switch between English, French and German don't need explaining to me.
Section-2

Within a short drive — often a short walk — Geneva offers remarkably varied backdrops:

  • The lakeside promenades — with the Jet d'Eau, the Alps on clear days and beautiful evening light over the water.
  • The Old Town — cobbled lanes around St Pierre Cathedral, the Place du Bourg-de-Four and quiet courtyards.
  • Parc de la Grange and Parc des Eaux-Vives — grand old trees, rose gardens and lake views.
  • Carouge — the Mediterranean-feeling artisan quarter with pastel facades and café streets.
  • The vineyards of the Geneva countryside — villages like Satigny and Dardagny, golden in late summer and a dream at sunset.

Civil ceremonies, villas and vineyard venues

Whether you are planning a short civil ceremony followed by a lakeside lunch, a celebration in a private garden or a full day at a château or vineyard venue in the Geneva countryside — I adapt my coverage to your format. For intimate weddings, a few hours are often enough for the ceremony, portraits and the first toasts. For larger days, I stay from getting ready until the dance floor fills. If you are considering marrying just the two of you, somewhere in the Swiss landscape, my page on elopements in Switzerland shows how that can look.

Travelling photographer, local knowledge

I'm based in Zurich and photograph weddings across the whole of Switzerland — Geneva included. Travel within the country is simple and part of how I work; distance should never decide who photographs your wedding. Before your day, we walk through your timeline together: where the light will be at each hour, how much buffer the distances need, and which spots have a covered plan B in case of rain. For an overview of all regions I cover, see Wedding Photographer Switzerland.

FAQ — weddings in Geneva

Do you work in English?

Yes — English and German both, from the first call to the delivery of your gallery. Many of my Geneva couples are international.

Do you charge for travel to Geneva?

I photograph weddings throughout Switzerland; we simply clarify the details of your coverage in a short call — no surprises.

Where do couple photos work best?

My favourites: the Old Town lanes in the late afternoon, the lakeside parks at golden hour, or a short drive into the vineyards for sunset.

Can you photograph a civil ceremony on a weekday?

Yes — short weekday coverages for civil ceremonies are very common and easy to arrange.

What if it rains?

Geneva has beautiful covered options — museum arcades, the Old Town's passages, elegant hotel interiors — and rain on the lake has its own drama. We always have a plan B.

Do you also film?

Yes, photography and film are available from one team — one point of contact, one consistent style.
