WEDDINGS IN SWITZERLAND
Marriage Proposal at Sandoase Basel
A proposal at Sandoase can feel intimate and personal when the setting is allowed to support the moment rather than dominate it. I photographed a marriage proposal here and approached it quietly, keeping the focus on the couple, the anticipation and the reaction itself.
This story is both a glimpse of a real proposal and my perspective as a photographer on how to keep the experience natural while still creating elegant images.

Sandoase
Sandoase gives a wedding day a clear sense of place. From a photographer’s point of view, the most useful quality is not one single backdrop, but the possibility to create variety while keeping the day connected and relaxed.
I look for clean compositions, natural light and a small number of strong locations rather than moving constantly. That approach keeps the experience calm and allows the final gallery to feel coherent rather than repetitive.
Section-2
I prefer to photograph the day as it unfolds, using Sandoase as part of the story rather than simply as a backdrop. The quieter moments, transitions and interactions between people often become the images that give the gallery its emotional depth.
Where the setting is visually strong, I use it selectively. Some photographs benefit from a wider sense of place, while others are stronger when the surroundings almost disappear.

Portraits After the Yes
For portraits at Sandoase, I keep the session focused and unhurried. A few carefully chosen spots, good light and natural movement are usually enough to create a varied set of images.
I like to balance wider frames that show the atmosphere of the location with closer portraits that feel quieter and more personal. The goal is elegant photography that still feels like the couple, rather than a production built around the venue.

Light, Atmosphere and Timing
Light changes the character of a location throughout the day, so I prefer to keep part of the portrait timing slightly flexible whenever the schedule allows it. That gives us the freedom to work with the conditions we actually have rather than forcing every photograph into one fixed moment.
A short portrait window in good light is often more valuable than a long session at the wrong time, and it keeps the couple present with their guests.

Planning Notes for Sandoase
If you are planning a celebration at Sandoase, I would leave a little breathing room around portraits and the transitions between the main parts of the day. A schedule that is not packed too tightly makes the experience calmer and gives the photography space to respond naturally.
I would also plan for more than one weather scenario. The best approach is not to chase perfect conditions, but to build enough flexibility into the day to use the setting well whatever the weather brings.
