WEDDINGS IN BASEL

Wedding Photographer in Basel — moments that stay

Basel weddings have a rhythm of their own: a ceremony in the red sandstone town hall, confetti on the market square, an apéro by the Rhine while the ferries glide past. I photograph here regularly — documentary first, with one relaxed couple session at golden hour — and I work with international couples in English from the first call to the finished gallery.

Where Basel shines on camera
  • The Rathaus (town hall) — the painted courtyard and glowing red façade, steps from the civil ceremony rooms.
  • The Pfalz terrace — high above the Rhine behind the Münster, my favourite golden-hour spot in the city.
  • Rhine riverside & Mittlere Brücke — relaxed, urban frames with Kleinbasel across the water.
  • Merian Gärten — English gardens and rose beds for quiet, green portraits.
  • Wenkenhof park in Riehen — a stately park loved for outdoor ceremonies.
  • Old-town lanes & St. Alban — Basel's «little Venice» for playful series.
Section-2

Basel sits where Switzerland, France and Germany meet — and its weddings often do too: guests arriving from Alsace, dinners across the border, couples with two or three nationalities at one table. I am used to this mix, photograph on both sides of the border, and happily switch languages between English, German and the family in between.

Marrying at the Basel civil registry? I cover the ceremony discreetly and without flash, and confirm the current photo guidelines with the registry before your date.

A sample Basel wedding timeline
  1. Morning — getting ready; calm, close-up storytelling.
  2. Early afternoon — ceremony at the town hall or your church.
  3. Afterwards — congratulations and confetti on the Marktplatz.
  4. Apéro — by the Rhine; I mix with your guests and collect the in-between moments.
  5. Golden hour — thirty minutes of portraits on the Pfalz.
  6. Evening — dinner, speeches, first dance — covered as reportage until the agreed end.

Planning from abroad

Everything runs in English: a first video call, a simple contract, honest advice on venues and timing, and a photo schedule built around the light. I coordinate directly with your planner, venue or registry where helpful.

FAQ — Wedding Photographer Basel

Do you photograph weddings in France or Germany too?

Yes — cross-border weddings around Basel are a regular part of my work.

Does everything run in English?

Yes, from planning to gallery; on the day I switch languages as your guests need.

When is the best light in Basel?

The last hour before sunset on the Pfalz terrace is the city's finest photo gift — I plan your portrait window around it.

How far ahead should we book?

Summer Saturdays go 9–12 months ahead; weekday civil ceremonies are often possible sooner.

What happens if it rains?

The town hall courtyard and the old town's covered passages are a built-in plan B — and rain over the Rhine photographs beautifully.

Can you also film?

Yes — photography and wedding film from one team, one aesthetic.
